Ainsworth Pet Nutrition Voluntarily Recalls Five Nutrish® Wet Cat Food Varieties For Potentially Elevated Vitamin D Levels  – June 4, 2015 – Ainsworth Pet Nutrition of Meadville, PA is voluntarily recalling five varieties of Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® wet cat food, including Ocean Fish-a-licious, Lip Smackin’ Sardine & Mackerel, Ocean Fish & Chicken Catch-iatore, Tuna Purrfection, and certain lot codes of Paw Lickin’ Chicken & Liver due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D. Symptoms of excessive vitamin D consumption usually develop within 12-36 hours after ingestion and may include vomiting or diarrhea, increased thirst and urination, and muscle tremors or seizures.

OC Raw Dog Recalls Turkey & Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulation Because of Possible Salmonella Health Risk — May 15, 2015 — Ranch Santa Margarita, CA — OC Raw Dog of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA is voluntarily recalling 2055 lbs. of Turkey & Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulation, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

New Hampshire Announces Recall of Pet Chicken Jerky Due to Risk of Salmonella - September 10, 2013 - Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is announcing a voluntary recall of Joey’s Jerky brand Chicken Jerky due to possible Salmonella risk. A total of 21 people in Merrimack and Hillsborough Counties have been identified with the same strain of the illness, but no deaths have occurred.

Recalls Bird Food Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination from Parsley  - August 26, 2013 - Goldenfeast® Inc. is recalling several exotic bird food blends due to possible contamination of Salmonella from parsley flake ingredients supplied to Goldenfeast® Inc. by Specialty Commodities, Inc., an outside supplier to Goldenfeast® Inc. On February 11, 2013 Specialty Commodities, Inc. initiated a voluntary product recall of parsley flakes distributed to Goldenfeast® Inc. and other pet food manufacturers because the product may have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Specialty Commodities distributed the product to Goldenfeast® Inc. on May 17, 2012. No human or pet illnesses have been reported. Goldenfeast® Inc. is initiating this recall in accordance with FDA guidelines.

P&G Voluntarily Recalls Limited Quantity of Dry Pet Food Due to Possible Health Risk  (Revised post) - August 14, 2013 - The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has voluntarily recalled specific lots of dry pet food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. These lots were distributed in the United States and represent roughly one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of annual production. No Salmonella-related illnesses have been reported to date in association with these product lots.

Cargill’s Animal Nutrition Business Conducts Voluntary Recall of Lamb Feed - April 10, 2013 - Cargill’s animal nutrition business today announced a voluntary recall of Showmaster® S-Series Show Lamb Feed (BW) because it contained incorrect sodium molybdate levels. Hy-Vee Issues VoluntaryRecall of Certain Dog Food Products Routine Testing Identifies Higher-Than-Normal Contaminant Levels in Select Products -February 22 , 2013 - Hy-Vee, Inc. today issued a voluntary recall of certain bags of Hy-Vee dog food due to elevated levels of a chemical contaminant commonly found in corn.




Routine random tests conducted by the Iowa Department of Agriculture indicated higher-than-normal levels of aflatoxin in some samples of Hy-Vee dog food produced at a Kansas City plant operated by Pro-Pet, LLC.

The treats are made, packaged and distributed in the United States by Kasel Associates Industries Inc. (Kasel) and were sold at Costco stores in the Denver, Colo., area.

In the last 12 months, FDA has seen an increase in the number of complaints it received of dog illnesses associated with consumption of chicken jerky products imported from China. These complaints have been reported to FDA by dog owners and veterinarians.

FDA is Warning Pet Owners on the Dangers of Xylitol Ingestion in Dogs and Ferrets - February 18, 2011 -  The Food and Drug Administration is cautioning consumers about the risks associated with the accidental consumption of xylitol by dogs and ferrets. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol approved for use in many common products, including sugar-free baked goods, candy, oral hygiene products, and chewing gum.

Xylitol can be found in many over-the-counter drugs such as chewable vitamins and throat lozenges and sprays. It can also be purchased in bulk bags for use in home baking. These products are intended only for human use.

P&G Recalls Specific Canned Cat Food - June 9, 2010 - Due to Low Levels of Thiamine (Vitamin B1)
CINCINNATI, June 9, 2010 - The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) (NYSE:PG) is voluntarily recalling specific lots of its Iams canned cat food in North America as a precautionary measure. Diagnostic testing indicated that the product may contain insufficient levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1), which is essential for cats. Cats that were fed these canned products as their only food are at greater risk for developing signs of thiamine deficiency


Response Products Voluntarily Recalls Advanced Cetyl M Joint Action Formula for Dogs Because of Possible Salmonella Health Risk - April 12, 2010 - Response Products, Broken Bow, NE is voluntarily recalling Cetyl M for Dogs, lot numbers 1210903 and 0128010, due to a possible Salmonella contamination from the hydrolyzed vegetable protein component provided by Basic Foods of Las Vegas, NV. Tests conducted by Basic Foods to detect Salmonella produced negative results; however, Response Products has determined to recall the above-referenced lots.

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers not to use Merrick Beef Filet Squares for dogs distributed by Merrick Pet Care with a package date of “Best By 111911” because the product may be contaminated with Salmonella.
